After the drilling, the teacher can require students to make the conversations with their partner within 3-5 minutes. When doing lockstep, the teacher should not speak too much. If the teachers talk too much of the time, he/she will run the risk of “jug-and-mug” method, and thus take away valuable practice time from the students, though his/her speech could be a good model and authentic input.
