On the Rising and Declining of Village’s semi—indUStrialization of Modern China
Abstract：From the end of the 19th century to the early of 1930，Semi-industrialization rose in the handi- craft cotton weaving in some rural areas of North China under the influence of the subjectiVe and objec— tive factors． The handicraft adopted progressive technology and was guided by market in the phase of se— mi—industrlalization．Beeause of the world Capital Economic CrisiS of 1929—1933，the Japanese-Chinese war of 193l and 1937，and so on，the semi-industrialization declined．In Spite of this，the semi—industri— alization played a positive role and had a grear influence on the Village’s Social and economic Change．we ought to distinguish the semi—industrialization from the cottage—handicraft in the traditional sense．
