论析对联中文化信息的翻译(2)

    ②The play here is on various meanings of qing,the color of nature; the clear lamp, the color of bamboo( served as paper, hence written history) , the light of day,the east and the Yang strength of Lord Guan' s sword, Green Dragon.

    功能理论认为首要为目的语读者服务，因此他们对源语知识掌握的情况必须考虑在内。上例多处涉及中国，对于不熟悉中国文化的外国读者来讲，仅有字面的翻译，他们往往不明白深层含义。因此必须用注释的形式为目的语读者提供相关文化信息，帮助他们理解译文。译者为读者添加了的注释，注释中包含“赤”的象征意义以及下联所描述人物的相关介绍。有了这些额外的信息，目的语读者不仅能了解更多中国文化，还能更好解原文的意义。

    Crimson rain , as we wish , turns into fertile billows ;

    Green mountains,if we will,to bridges give support.

    Note ;  Nine  Streams  refer to  the  nine  tributaries  flowing  into  the Changjiang River in the provinces of Hubei and jiangxi.

    译文必须能很好地为目的语读者服务，这是德国功能理论的核心概念。不熟悉中国文化的读者读到“红雨”会感到奇怪，没有中国地理知识的外国读者不会明白“九派”是指什么。为了不破坏译文的对称美，译者在译文后添加了文外解释，使译文的可读性提高，为读者理解原文提供了帮助。如果不添加文外注释，目的语读者无法明白对联的文化内涵，就无法理解原文的准确意义。两个译文都添加文外注释，为读者提供相关的文化背景知识，便于他们欣赏译文。
