第四，培养学生的想象力。
英国诗人雪莱说过：“想象是创造力”；爱因斯坦也认为：“想象力比知识更重要，因为知识是有限的，而想象力概括着世界上的一切。”想象是促使人们进行各种创造性实践活动的必要条件，全部的创造性思维都离不开想象。培养想象力不仅对发展创造力有价值，而且对思维的发展也很有意义，我们应在英语课上采取多种手段激发学生的想象力。
笔者在讲授Disneyland的对话时，引导学生想象自己就是迪斯尼乐园的导游，置身于乐园中为旅客作介绍：
Ladies and gentlemen，Welcome to visit Disneyland. If you’d like to go to the Sleeping Beauty Castle， please go straight ahead till you see the entrance. It’s about four hundred yards down the street. If you go through the gate over there， you’ll find the entrance to Bear Country on the other side. The Tomorrow Land Building is behind the Sleeping Beauty Castle. Just take this street round the right of the castle. It’s about 400 yards from here. I’m sure you’ll like it. At last I’m glad to tell you that you can take horse-drawn streetcars. They are free. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it.Thank you!
