以上就西部战时经济扩展的动力和战后经济地位两个方面评介了围绕纳什“转折假说”出现的一些争论。迄今为止纳什的观点仍有待进一步的证明。尽管如此，纳什作为该领域研究的开拓者，仍然受到广泛的尊重，其论著依然产生着广泛的影响。而围绕纳什观点展开的争论必然不断深化人们对于“战争与经济”的关系、对20世纪美国西部发展等问题的研究和认识。
