英语双关语汉译的可译性限度

Abstract

Translation functions as a bridge over the Chinese and English languages. It occupies an important role in the international communication. However, in the process of translating, we have to face the problem of translatability limitation. Pun is a commonly-seen but important rhetorical device in both English and Chinese languages. Translation of pun from English to Chinese is the major concern on which this paper is to focus its effort. It makes an attempt to analyze their specific features after touching on all kinds of pun. This paper explores how to do a good job in the E-C translation of pun in terms of translatability limitation.

摘  要

作为1种常见的修辞手法,双关频频出现在英汉语中。由于英汉语言结构的不同和文化的迥异,导致双关语的翻译成为1道难题。双关在音律和结构层次上有独特的审美价值,但在翻译成目的语后却很难再现。这里存在着可译性限度的问题。因此需要译者充分发挥主观能动性,分析其语言特征,找出对策。
