On Splendid Isolation

Abstract

Splendid Isolation is a passiveness protects policy. It was decided and actualized when England was the most powerful country, and the purpose is to protect its profits and colonies.
At present, some scholars take the theory that China would face the “Splendid Isolation”, because after our country“reform and opening”, the economic develops fast, thus China becomes a new powerful country. But some scholars take other theory “Peaceful Rise”. “Peaceful Rise” means that we must develop ourselves first and at same time we must take good relationships with other countries.
This thesis analyzes “Splendid Isolation” and “Peaceful Rise” from three different parts: first, I compared them from different backgrounds of histories; second, I compared them form different conditions of politics; third, I compared them from different conditions of technology. Finally, we can got why China choose the way of Peaceful Rise and how should we do.

摘  要

   光荣孤立，我们可以理解为英国在它登到世界的顶峰时，为了保护自己的既得利益而做出的1种自我保护的被动的政策。
如今，随着我国改革开放，经济的发展，有学者也提出了中国也将面对“光荣孤立”的境地。对此，也有学者提出了“和平崛起”的理论。“和平崛起”简单的说，就是在发展自己的基础上与世界其他国家友好相处，共同发展。
本文分别从3个角度分析了“光荣孤立”和“和平崛起”：首先从它们所处的不同的历史背景；其次从他们当时不同的政治背景；最后从它们不同的科技生产力条件下来解释为什么中国选择走“和平崛起”的道路以及如何走“和平崛起”的道路。
