浅析英语禁忌语及其发展

A Tentative Study of English Taboo Words and Their Development

Abstract

Taboo words are not only a linguistic phenomenon but also a social phenomenon. Like other parts of language, on one hand they can reflect the social norms and values of a particular culture; on the other hand they are largely constrained too. They are not only universal but also culture-specific and context-dependent. Therefore the study of taboo words must take into consideration the specific context and especially the influence of such contextual factors as participants, setting and activity.
This thesis intends to study the definition, categories, sources and development of English taboo words, suggests putting the study in specific contexts. The goal of the paper is to reducing miscommunications and conflicts in intercultural communication, to improving learners awareness of intercultural communication and to developing students intercultural communicative competence.

摘  要

禁忌语是1种语言现象，更是1种社会现象。与语言的其他部分1样,1方面禁忌语是社会准则和特定文化域价值观的折射,另1方面又受其限制。他们具有普遍性,也有文化特定性和语境独立性。因此,对其研究必须考虑具体的语境,特别是参与者,场合和活动等语境因素的影响。
本文将简要的讨论禁忌语的定义、分类、产生和发展, 提出将禁忌语放到具体的文化和交际语境中进行研究。其实践意义在于减少跨文化交际失误，避免人际冲突，有助于增强外语学习者的跨文化交际意识，提高外语学习者的跨文化交际能力。
