三官殿里有一株茶花树，在寒冬腊月开出一束鲜花，璀璨如锦，因此又名“耐冬”。
There is a camellia tree in the Sanguan Palace blooming fully in midwinter, so it is called Naidong, meaning it can stand bitterly cold winters.
这里采用音译加随文注的方法，对“耐冬”做进一步解释，加深读者对茶花树的印象。
4.删减
对译文理解没有帮助的信息在英译过程中应该进行删减，使得译文明白晓畅，可读性强。例：
功夫茶的沏茶方法十分讲究，先要洗杯烫壶，茶叶要多放，用沸水沏茶时要高冲低斟。这“关公巡城”、“韩信点兵”，点点滴滴，周而复始，宛如蜻蜓点水。
Making oolong tea is quite an art. First of all, both teacups and teapots must be rinsed and heated with boiling water. After this, put as much tea as possible into the pot. It is the knack that boiling water should be poured high into the pot while the brewed tea should be poured low into the cups. The brewed tea is poured into the teacups, little by little, drop by drop, just as a dragonfly skimming the surface of water without going into it deeply.
斟茶是很讲究功夫的, 必须用一个手指按住茶壶盖，将壶翻转九十度, 壶嘴直冲下,迅速绕着已经排成一圈的茶杯斟下去, 开始叫"关公巡城"，每一个杯子都要巡到；最后叫"韩信点兵",那后边的几滴最是甘美,也是每一个杯子都必须点到。这样斟出的茶，每一杯色泽浓淡均匀,味道不相上下。然而，西方读者对关公，韩信等人物一无所知，文中的汉语典故在画册译文中寥寥几句哪里解释得清楚，不如进行删减，以直白的语言直接介绍饮茶步骤。又如：
