网络时代英语学习探讨

On English Study in Network Era

Abstract

With the widespread use of Internet in numerous domains and fields in our life, we have been ushered in a brand-new era, namely, network era. While no matter what epoch we live in, how to study English well is still a heated topic because English, as we can see, is acting as the main tool for cross-cultural communications with absolute predominance around the world. Then the question may be raised that how we can study English well in network era? The key point to answer this question is to make combination between Internet application and English learning so as to make English learning more efficient and appealing in such a new circumstance. There are many commonly-used electronic tools assisting our English learners to study English well today, such as using e-mail, chat rooms, instant messenger like ICQ, long-distance education, e-dictionary, online newspaper, etc. All the tools mentioned above are respectively helping us improve English listening comprehension, spoken English, English reading skill and written English. However, with the help of Internet, while doing cross-cultural communications in cyberspace, we should pay attention to Internet etiquette (netiquette), if not, we may never communicate online smoothly. So, in the end, this thesis will focus on netiquette, which is quite fresh to most English learners in China. Anyway, it is undoubtedly that Internet is carrying great potential for English learning and web-based English learning has great value for research in the years to come.

摘  要

随着因特网在我们生活的许多方面都得到广泛地应用，这标志着我们进入了1个全新地时代，即网络时代。然而无论我们处于哪个时代，如何学好英语仍然是流行地热点话题。我们有目共睹，英语正以第1环球语言地优势充当着这个时代人类跨文化交际地主要工具。那么在网络时代如何才能学好英语呢？答案的关键是将因特网的应用和英语学习相结合以达到在新的环境下更有效更有趣的学习英语。现有许多普遍使用的网络工具帮助我们英语学习者轻松愉快地学英语，例如：电子邮件，聊天室，网络寻呼机，远程教育课程，电子词典，网络新闻组等等。以上所述的工具都能分别地提高我们英语学习者的听，说，读，写4项英语基本技能。然而，在因特网的帮助下，我们在网络空间进行跨文化交际时，应该多注意网络礼仪，否则，我们是不可能顺利地在网上进行交流的。所以，最后，本文会把重点放在网络礼仪方面，而这对我们大多数的中国学习者而言是很陌生的。勿庸置疑，在未来几年，因特网辅助英语学习是具有巨大的开发潜能和研究价值的。
