Developing Students Communicative Competence of Oral English in Middle School Through CA
Abstract
With Chinas entry into the World Trade Organization, a large number of people with good command of spoken English are greatly needed. Thus, developing communicative competence of oral English becomes urgently in English teaching. Communicative Approach(CA) is an English teaching method dominated by a student-centered, and can help the teachers to cultivate the students communicative competence. Through CA, students pay more attention to the practical use of English.
This thesis first introduces the traditional language teaching approaches with their characteristics, focuses and some problems. Thus, it calls for a new teaching approach to improve middle school students’ ability of speaking English. And then it introduces the basic information on CA as well as the concept of communicative competence and makes comparisons between CA and traditional methods. Some typical forms of communicative activities are also introduced here. The writer points out, in the last part of this paper, some limitations of CA and its implementation in middle schools and makes some suggestions on future research. The purpose of this thesis is to sum up and induce some effective ways to develop our learners’ communicative competence.

本文首先回顾了传统语言教学方法和它们的特点和侧重点,以及存在的诸多问题。由此呼吁1种新的教学法来提高高中学生口语能力。接着介绍了有关交际法的基本信息和交际能力的概念,对交际法和传统教学法的优缺点进行了比较。随后引进了交际活动的典型形式。文章最后部分提出了交际法在中学实施的1些局限性。本文旨在总结有效的培养学生交际能力的途径。
