On Strategies for Cultivating Students’ Positive Affect in Middle School English Teaching
Abstract
According to the requirement of the new standard of English curriculum as well as reality of middle school English teaching and learning in China, the thesis discusses the importance to do research on affective factors. Secondly, the author believes that the most important affective factors in high school English learning are interest, motivation, self-confidence and the teacher-student relationship.
Having summarizing the present situations of domestic and international related research, the thesis concentrates on the strategies of cultivating student’s positive affects in English teaching, which includes the following four aspects: (1) strategies for arousing and fostering students’ interest in English learning; (2) strategies for stimulating and strengthening students’ motivation on English learning; (3) strategies for helping students to set up and maintain their self-confidence in English learning; (4) strategies for English teachers to establish good teacher-student relationship. The purpose of this research is to offer middle school English teachers some materials of practical value in implementing the affect goals prescribed in the new standard of English curriculum.

摘 要
根据新课程标准的要求和我国英语学习和教学的具体实际,笔者阐述了研究情感因素的重要意义,并在影响中学学习的情感因素中选取了动机、兴趣、自信心和师生关系作为研究重点。本文主要采用了研读文献、调查访谈、观察思考和经验总结等研究方法。
笔者首先论述了研究情感因素的重要意义。笔者认为英语课程标准中最重要的情感因素为动机、兴趣、自信心和师生关系。在概述了国内外相关研究现状之后重点研究了在英语教学中如何培养学生积极情感因素的策略,即:激发和培养英语学习兴趣的策略;帮助学生树立和保持学习英语的自信心的策略;激发和强化英语学习动机的策略;英语教师和学生建立良好师生关系的策略。本文对广大中学教师在实施英语新课程标准中的情感态度目标的过程中提供了1定实用价值的参考资料。
