Abstract: Due to the lack of the studies on the speech act of address of the second language learners from the angle of interlangauge pragmatics, the study is to take an investigation on the speech act of address performed by Chinese students of English. It is to explore the controlling factors of their address, what address forms they employ for their teachers, and the characteristics of their speech act of address.
