A Comparative Study of Chinese and Foreign Teachers’ Classroom Questioning Methods
Abstract
Questioning, as an effective teaching method, has been highly valued and widely applied by educationists both at home and abroad since ancient times. In modern times, questioning has entered the classroom, and attracted more and more attention. Its significant role in classroom teaching has also been emphasized. Classroom questioning has become a hot issue in foreign language teaching and learning. Much research has been done in this aspect, which provides us with a clear account of classroom questioning and makes great contribution to English language teaching and learning. While the comparative study of Chinese and foreign teachers’ classroom questioning methods is neglected. Based on the above consideration, this thesis is to make a comparative study of the issue.
This thesis consists of three important parts: differences and similarities of Chinese and foreign teachers’ classroom questioning methods; methods of Chinese and foreign teachers searching for answers; respective influences of Chinese and foreign teachers’ classroom questioning, and some suggestions for enhancing the quality of classroom questioning in the future.

摘 要
提问作为1种有效的教学方法,自古以来就得到中外教育家的高度重视和普遍运用。至近代,提问步入课堂,引起人们越来越多的关注。其在课堂教学方面的重要作用已经被人们所强调。课堂提问已经成为外语教学和外语学习的重要而且热门话题。在这方面前人已过许多研究,这给了我们很多借鉴并且对英语教学做出了重要贡献。但前人却忽视了对中外教师课堂提问方式的对比研究。基于以是考虑,本文旨在对中国英语教师和外籍英语教师课堂提问方式进行比较和初探。
本文由3个主要部分组成:中外教师课堂提问方式的异同点;中外教师寻求回答问题的方式;中外教师课堂提问的方式和寻求答案的方式所产生的影响,并对今后如何改善课堂教学中的提问方式提出了1些建议。
