论英语否定句的翻译

On English-Chinese Translation of Negative Sentences

Abstract

Absorbing the achievements that many researchers have done in lexicon, grammar, pragmatics and culture, this thesis firstly makes a deeply analysis of English negative words, forms and parts as well as the differences from that of Chinese; secondly this thesis discusses the culture differences between English and Chinese and its influences in translating English negative sentences; at last a classification of negation and its respective translating methods and techniques are introduced. The former two parts aim to find out the causes to the difficulties of translation from two levels: grammatical differences and cultural differences, which give a better understanding of the English negative sentences and are the basis on the study of the last part. Meanwhile, this thesis shows that the different expressions of negative sentences ultimately reflect and are determined by the related culture differences. We should do more research on the analyses of features of the two languages as regards negation and related culture differences so as to have a better and full comprehension of English negative sentences and their translating methods and techniques.

摘  要

本文在吸纳前人关于词句、语法、语言学和文化有关的研究成果基础上，首先深入地探讨了英汉否定词、否定形式、否定部位及其与汉语的差异；其次分析了英汉文化差异及其对英语否定句翻译的影响；最后介绍英语否定的分类及其对应的英语否定句的翻译方法或技巧。前两部分主要是从英汉语法结构差异和文化差异两方面探寻英语否定句翻译困难的原因，为深入理解英语否定句和最后1部分的探讨奠定了基础。同时此类研究表明英汉两种否定句表达上的差异最终反映并决定于其文化差异。我们应该更加注重两种语言否定的特色及其相应的文化差异的研究，从而更好、更全面地理解英语否定句及其翻译方法。
