会话含义理论与英语听力教学

Conversational Implicature and English Listening Comprehension Teaching

Abstract

Conversational implicature is something meant, implied, or suggested distinct from what is said. Grice’s Conversational Implicature Theory focuses its attention on phenomenon of conveying more than what is said. Listening plays an important role in language learning. There is a common phenomenon that even though some listening materials are simple, less new vocabulary and without any difficult grammars, the students still cannot get the correct answers in doing such kind of exercises. In listening test, conversation is an important part, it is important to analyze the conversations that contain implied meaning. This thesis tries to apply Grice’s Conversational Implicature Theory to English listening teaching. The study demonstrates that the students should be taught how to comprehend the material can enhance the students’ confidence and improve the ability of listening comprehension. There is also much room for improvement in applying theoretical guidelines and research findings to the teaching practice of listening comprehension in China, Through the theory interpretation, this thesis is aiming at providing certain help to English listening teaching.

摘  要

会话含意是指隐含在话语中的意思或话语所暗示的意思。格赖斯的会话含义理论主要研究传递言外之意的现象。听力教学中常常可以发现，有些听力材料尽管很简单，生词不多、语法不难，但学生仍然听不明白，理解不了。有时即使听懂了，也只是获取了字面意思，而不能透彻地理解其中的真正含意，因而找不到正确的答案。各类英语考试中，听力测试中分析具有隐含意义的对话10分重要。本文尝试着用格赖斯的会话含义理论来指导英语听力教学，从语言口语本身的特征、学生自身的知识水平、语音将可导致的含意等方面进行讨论表明学生需要学习相应的会话含义理论知识来指导其听力学习过程。通过将会话含义理论应用于听力学习，能增强学生的自信心，提高英语听解能力。把理论和研究发现应用于英语听力教学实践在中国还具有较大的空间，本文希望通过对理论的阐述能够对英语听力教学提供1定的帮助。
