英语动物词汇的文化内涵与汉译

Cultural Connotation and Translation of English Animal Words
Abstract

Language and culture are inseparable. Cultural influences language, and language in a part of the carrier of culture. During human beings’ development, animals always keep a closely touch with human beings and play an important role in human’s life. Animal words have a profound cultural connotation as the same as others words. In English people compare animal words to people’s characteristic, or use animal words instand of some colors. We can find a lot of animal words in religion and fables. Animal words used in all aspects in human beings’ life and social activities. But different social background and national cultures have a great effect on the cultural connotations of animal words. So when we translate, we must understand the cultural connotation of animal words in English, and choose the right translation means. Translation is inseparable cultural translation. The main task of translation is to keep the spirits in the target text for the source text and to promote the cultural exchange. This thesis based on animal studies words; understand the animals in terms of human beings’ life. The application reflects a particular social culture. Introduce four means of translating animal words and culture vacuum. Based on the animal words translation we will have a clearer understanding of the original culture, and we can communicate the cultural connotation clearly. Then we can learn English better and get a better communication with western countries.

摘 要

语言与文化密不可分。文化影响语言，语言是文化的1部分，是文化的载体。在人类历史发展的过程中，动物1直与人类保持密切的联系并对人类的生存发展有着深刻的影响。在英语里，人们用动物词汇来比喻人或者事物，或者代替1些颜色。我们能在宗教或者寓言里找到大量的动物词汇。动物词汇在人类生活和社会活动各方面都有着巨大的渗透。但是由于词汇反映了特定的社会文化，不同的社会背景和文化差异造成了词汇在文化内涵上的差异。因此在翻译的时候，我们必须领会英语中动物词汇的文化内涵，选择适当的方法。本文通过动物词汇，了解动物词汇在人类生活中的应用，折射出特定的社会文化。同时介绍了4种翻译方法与文化空缺现象帮助我们能更好的把原文内涵体现出来，传达原文中的文化内涵。以便我们能更好的学习英语以及更好的与西方国家进行沟通。
