Games in Children’s English Teaching
Abstract
With the implementation of the New English Curriculum, game-teaching approach is becoming more and more popular to primary school teachers. But, in our country, the method applied in primary English class still faces a lot of problems. Starting from research methods such as questionnaires and classroom observation, the author investigates the effectiveness of using games in the teaching process. From the result of questionnaire, we can see that students show great interest in these games. Teachers have to judge the results of the teaching games correctly. While organizing the teaching games, teachers should develop students’ cooperative skills. Meanwhile, it is necessary for the language teachers to create new games. Then the author describes the significance of games in children’s English teaching, the thesis introduces some scholars’ illustration of using games in the teaching process, and lays emphasizes on analysis of the types of games and process of how to play games. In a word, the game-teaching approach adopted in this thesis is consistent with the characteristics of children’s psychology and recognition, which stimulates their interest in studying English.

摘 要
随着英语新课程标准的颁布实施,游戏教学法日益受到儿童英语教师的重视。但是在我国,此方法在小学英语课堂中的应用仍然面临着许多问题。文章中笔者首先采用了问卷调查和课堂观察法等语言学习研究方法,对游戏教学的效果进行了调查。从问卷调查结果来看,学生对游戏英语表现出浓厚的兴趣,但在游戏教学的过程中教师应准确判定游戏结果,要有意识地培养学生相互合作的精神;同时,作为语言教师也不要拘泥于原有的游戏,要因地制宜地组织教学游戏。其次,本文阐述与说明了游戏在儿童教学中的意义,并着重对游戏的类型和操作进行了分析和归纳。总之,本文采用的游戏教学法,迎合了儿童的心理和认知特征,从而激发了他们学习英语的兴趣。
